The early childhood programme at St. John's is based on age-specific learning process. Sensitive and appreciative teachers create a caring, secure space for little ones in "big school". The colorful classrooms and specially designed activity rooms here with latest educational play systems, toys and games, make learning interesting and interactive. Every child finds the learning experiential and relevant. Teachers attempt to understand the social and cultural contexts to which children belong, which gives clues to their emotional, cognitive and social needs.

Primary School Curriculum

St. John's includes the active participation of the parents in devising the growth chart of the child development through its orientation programmes and periodic parent-teacher meetings. This helps parents to keep abreast of the teaching methodology adopted by the school and pull in the same direction.

St. John's recognises the importance of preserving the innate curiosity of early childhood. The Primary School curriculum is driven by the natural curiosity that children exhibit at this age. Children share ideas and experiences, and develop a sense of community and discipline through interactions with nature, people, objects and the environment. They explore and investigate; consolidate and connect, what they learn; ponder over and question it, and then demonstrate their learning in multiple ways. Insights into concepts are expressed using dance, theatre and movement as well. Thus, when the child completes the primary schooling he or she is ready to take on the systematic education pattern of the higher classes.

Academic and Personal Development

St. John's aims to develop inquisitive minds, critical thinkers and self-directed learners by laying a proper foundation and honing the students' power of reasoning and analytical skills.

The Middle Years of the schooling or the transition time is the most challenging time for learners as they move from childhood to adolescence. During this period, the teachers at St. John's extend the academic teaching by helping students develop critical thinking, solve 'real-life' problems, develop knowledge of local and global issues, communicate ideas, engage in public debate and express creativity through action. Through this process, students develop a certain independence and maturity, learn to manage time and multiple expectations and become aware and confident of their academic and personal development. To improve mathematical skills and inculcate scientific temper in the students, Abacus, Astronomy and Robotics programmes are introduced as a part of the regular curriculum.

Logical, Analytical and Presentation skills

To provide individual attention, students of higher classes are divided into groups depending upon their comprehensive skills so that the teaching plan accommodates the progress of every student.

The curriculum devised for senior classes is innovative and experimental to captivate the student and stimulate learning. Students of the senior classes are provided with a well-planned programme implemented in three terms. The aim is to give the learner a sound foundation in conceptual knowledge and in skills of application, analysis and higher order thinking. Several value added programmes form the part of the regular course to ignite the students' intellectual curiosity, IQ / EQ, logical, analytical and presentation skills. Internal examinations, seminars, workshops are conducted to test the students participation in understanding the concepts in the classroom taught. Following the scientifically designed assessment systems, students who are lagging behind are formed into small groups and a teacher is assigned to give them special attention. The result is that every student performs to his or her best potential.
